Jewellery Care

Caring for Your Handmade Wood and Acrylic Jewellery

Your jewellery is made with love and care, and a little attention will keep it looking its best. Here are some tips for keeping your pieces vibrant and long-lasting.

Wood
Most of my pieces feature wood, which is naturally sensitive to water. While I seal each piece with resin or varnish for protection, please avoid wearing your jewellery while showering, swimming, or washing dishes. Also, try to keep it away from perfume, fake tan, and creams, as these can affect the finish.

Brass & Tarnishing
I love using brass because it’s recyclable and sustainable! Some brass in my pieces is encased in the resin, so it’s protected. For raw brass that isn’t sealed:

Brass naturally develops a patina or tarnish over time. Many people love the character this gives, but if you prefer a shiny finish:

* Use a polishing cloth.
* Traditional cleaning methods like lemon, vinegar, or baking soda work well.
* For heavier tarnish, Brasso can be used — follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

If your brass is dirty rather than tarnished, wash gently in warm, soapy water, then dry and polish with a soft cloth. A soft toothbrush can help with detailed areas.

Storage tip: Keep brass pieces dry and preferably in an airtight place to slow tarnishing

Plated Stainless Steel Findings & Chains
Avoid harsh chemicals: Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, or using cleaning products. Chlorine, bleach, and strong soaps can damage the finish.

Clean gently: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For a deeper clean, use warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.

Store carefully: Keep in a dry place, ideally in a pouch or box, to prevent scratches and tangling.

Avoid friction: Don’t rub against rough surfaces to protect gold or ion-plated finishes.

Acrylic
Wipe gently with a microfibre cloth.

Keep away from direct sunlight, which can fade some colours over time.

Acrylic is hard but can shatter or chip if dropped, so avoid hard surfaces and handle with care.

Storage Tips
Keep jewellery in the supplied box or a soft pouch to stay clean, dry, and tangle-free.

Avoid direct sunlight or damp areas, which can warp wood or crack acrylic.

General Care
Keep it dry: Avoid water exposure and dry immediately if wet.

Be gentle: When putting on or removing pieces, avoid pulling or twisting the wood, acrylic, or earring backs. Rough handling can weaken glue or damage your jewellery.

Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, or sweat: Apply these first and let them settle before putting on your jewellery.

Clean carefully: Use a soft, dry cloth for dust or dirt. For a deeper clean, use a damp cloth with mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

By following these tips, your handmade wood and acrylic jewellery will stay beautiful, comfortable, and long-lasting for years to come!
