I shared this little table make over on my Instagram stories and was blown away with all the attention it got, so I thought I would go ahead and share here…. sure why not !
It was part of a 3 piece set, you know the ones that all fit into each other. I got the set years ago, never really liked the legs, but it was fine and practical.
I decided the legs had to go and be replaced with some hair pin ones. Also there was some shiny coating to the top of the table that I never liked either so I decided to sand it back and see what it came up like. By doing this, I also wanted to keep rid of all the marks and stains it had accumulated over the years.
Here’s a few before pictures and some work in progress shots …..
I was lucky enough, a family member made the legs for me – yay ! so all I has to do was prep them for paint. I used a black matt spray on paint, just gave them a couple of coats.
The sanding on the top went really well, I got out all those marks. I then just used some Woodoc stain in natural matt. This just brought up the grain really nice and gave it a natural colour, without changing it too much.
The legs were easy enough to pull out and with a little bit of help from himself we got these out pretty quick. Yes, I l know I should have filled in those holes, but who’s going to be looking under the table … right ?! We then drilled in the new hair pin ones.
Voila, end result !
Just a little bit more modern. I’m thinking of doing the second table now, just to break it to himself !
Till next time
